Bad thought re the San Francisco Giants

December 13, 2008

Heard on Sirius XM Radio Hot Stove radio this morning: If you were a pitcher, why would you sign with the Giants when the left side of the infield has two guys* who can't move to either side? The person commenting is with a national publication. He called the Giants "a bad team."

A pitcher should not be the first priority. Sabean's longstanding refusal to draft a highly rated prospect who can drive in runs has rendered the team unwatchable.

They should throw everything at Mark Teixeira, a 28-year-old who can lead the team for years. It is nonsense to claim that hitters will not come to SF. When the park opened, the Giants were near the top of the league in runs scored. Kent and Bonds won MVP awards there.

I would pay more every game to see a lineup with Teixeira or his equivalent in it. Till then, I will avert my eyes from Sabean's patsies.
